BANGALORE: In an attempt to abolish both female foeticide and infanticide, Santhome Youth Association, along with various educational institutions, will organise the Pro-Life 9.9 K Marathon 2010 on August 1.
“The event is aimed at spreading awareness against various social evils, including sex-selective abortions. Violence against the unborn child highlights the atrocity being faced by women in our society,” said Cherian Thunduparambil, executive director, Pro-Life Marathon.
The marathon, which will be flagged off by cricketer Robin Uthappa at the Dharmaram College and Christ University campus at 6 am, is expected to draw more than 5,000 people from various walks of life. Apart from the 9.9 km run, a skit by members of the Zesus Youth Group and the students of Jyothi Nivas College, Dharmaram College and Christ University, as well as exhibitions will also be held. The marathon is open to all and the participants will be provided with T-shirt, medical aid and water. People can register for the run at Dharmaram College.
